Trump has a lengthy history of sticking up for powerful men accused of sexual harassment or rape. Do you ever wonder WHY he so consistently, publicly backs the men while belittling the trauma of the women who are suffering? Perhaps because he himself has been charged with many of those things and even been found liable in some cases? In his mind, if he can persuade you that THOSE other guys were victims, then Trump must be a victim too, right?.
Here are some examples:
Jeffrey Epstein was jailed and accused of many horrific things, including statutory rape. So Trump, at first, via his attorney, tried to deny having a relationship with Epstein. But earlier he had bragged: "I've known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy," he told New York Magazine. “He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it - Jeffrey enjoys his social life."
Yesterday, it came out that Trump has been flying around this month to campaign rallies…on Epstein’s old jet!
How absolutely weird is that? With all of the private jets available, did Trump pick THAT one now so he could relive his glory days?
Corey Lewandowski, Trump's campaign manager, faced a misdemeanor charge for assaulting a female reporter: “I think it’s a very very sad day in this country when a man could be destroyed over something like that,” Trump told reporters. (Charges were eventually dropped without an admission of guilt).
Brett Kavanaugh was accused of assaulting or harassing multiple women. So, as noted by FactChecker: "The president accused the Democrats of ‘trying to destroy Judge Kavanaugh since the very first second he was announced,’ and then he went on to make a series of false claims about Kavanaugh’s accuser.” Trump added: “It would be hard for me to imagine that anything happened (with Kavanaugh).”
Btw, after a “sham” FBI investigation, seemingly spearheaded by Trump’s team and manipulated by the GOP-led Senate, no charges were filed, and the Senate rushed through Kavanaugh’s confirmation.
Fellow Conservative SCOTUS justice Clarence Thomas was also accused of sexual harassment: “I really have a lot of respect — I like Clarence Thomas a lot… I don’t know Anita Hill. I’d met Clarence Thomas on a number of occasions. I thought he was terrific. I think he’s a terrific person.”
(Thomas and Kavanaugh, of course, have now seemingly leapt at opportunities to push through Donald Trump’s agenda, no matter how many legal scholars say they are ignoring precedent and causing great societal upheaval)
Roger Ailes was accused by more than a dozen women at FOX of sexual harassment, before being forced out in disgrace: ”I think it’s so sad, he’s such a great guy,” said Trump. (Ailes died the next year before charges could be filed.)
Trump even went to the extreme measure of hiring -- as his Communications Director in the White House! -- a guy who FOX had canned over his handling of the sexual harassment cases there. (Off topic, but this was his FIFTH Communications Director in 18 months. Wonder why?)
By the way, there is one powerful man he has not defended: Bill Clinton. He did, though, subtly accuse Bill of being involved in the alleged murder of their mutual buddy Jeffrey Epstein. So there’s that.
