After receiving special permission from police and air traffic controllers, clever activists in London fly the magnificent orange Trump Baby balloon over huge crowds protesting Donald Trump. The 20’ creation depicts Trump wearing a diaper and holding a cell phone, and instantly garners worldwide attention for its message.
Why’d they do this? As one of its creators, climate supporter Max Wakefield, noted: “What’s the best way to get at Donald Trump? This is a man you can’t reason with….We realized that actually the thing to do is ridicule him.”
And as Leo Murray, the man who dreamed up the idea, put it: “We want to make sure he knows that all of Britain is looking down on him and laughing at him.”
They unveiled their creation to the world OTDI 2018 during Trump's first trip to the UK, and then flew it again during his second visit. The balloon, or authorized copies of it, have also soared over crowds in at least five other countries, including several times in the U.S.
Important additional uses: In January 2021, the Museum of London was proud to acquire the original Trump Baby for its permanent collection of vital objects. And in 2024, we here at OTDI are proud to use Trump Baby in our logo.
